Monk House, Lewes, Sussex Dates to early 16th century

An hour’s train ride from London is Monk’s House in Rodmell, Sussex. The 17th century weatherboard cottage was once inhabited by political theorist and author Leonard and novelist Virginia Woolf, and was a gathering place of the wider Bloomsbury Group. Surrounded by a lush garden of flowers, orchards, vegetables and ponds, the house has been preserved as the Woolfs left it, an artifact of their rich and turbulent life together.
