Epic America Film Series

The Art Gallery of NSW presents the history of American cinema. In association with the America: painting a nation exhibition currently running at the AGNSW, a series of classic American films are being screened at the Domain Theatre, all of them presented through gorgeous 35mm prints. From the pioneering comedy of Buster Keaton to the pathos of Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will be Blood, this series encompasses the full scope of America’s paradoxical mythology as imagined by the movies.

NYC Dark – 1 year anniversary of hurricane Sandy

Screen Shot 2013-10-30 at 9.56.00 AM

Jared Levy & Michael Marantz put together this short film looking at Manhattan in the dark during the black out cause by Hurricane Sandy last year. Jared describes “seeing lower Manhattan without power was a surreal experience. This is traditionally a city that never sleeps. One in which the lights are always on. One that is always bustling with people. When the lights went out it was wholly different. This piece is meant to capture and relay the feeling of what it was like to walk around the darkened streets of lower Manhattan.” Click image to see the video…
